New Software Upgrade for Broadcast Pix Production Switchers
At IBC2015, Broadcast Pix unveiled Version 5.0 software for its integrated production switchers, offering enhanced virtual set studios and router control features.
The Virtual Set Studios upgrade provides a comprehensive toolset for creating high-quality virtual environments, complete with multi-angle sets, zoom capabilities, and better control over light for more realistic virtual sets.
Routed Control allows any Broadcast Pix system to include external sources in live productions, extending the I/O of the production switcher through a simple TCP/IP connection. This feature integrates seamlessly with AJA Video Systems KUMO SDI routers, allowing users to easily cross-point control router sources to router destinations feeding a Broadcast Pix system.
Additional Upgrades
Version 5.0 also includes support for Matrox Monarch HD streamer/recorder appliances, enabling all Broadcast Pix systems to stream and record HD video. The upgrade also provides support for Sony IP-based PTZ cameras, including preset positions, which can be controlled directly through the PixPad.
New format support, source-based control for enhanced DVE positioning and cropping, and auto-detect capabilities for every input simplify setup and enhance overall workflow efficiency.
Show Transfer Utility and PixPlay
Broadcast Pix also demonstrated its Show Transfer Utility, which allows organizations to back up and move all elements of a program – including graphics, clips, and macros – between Broadcast Pix systems. Additionally, the company showcased PixPlay, which ports VTR control from a Blackmagic HyperDeck or AJA Ki Pro disk recorder to a Broadcast Pix production switcher for slow motion replays during sports productions.
Availability
Version 5.0 software will be available later this year for all Flint, Granite, Mica, and Roadie integrated production switchers. The upgrade is free for customers still under warranty, while other users can upgrade for $995.
