Frame.io, the video review and collaboration platform for content creators, has just launched its second major update. Frame.io 2.0 brings numerous enhancements to streamline the creative process, including new client Review Pages, improved workflow integration with industry-standard NLEs like Final Cut Pro X and Avid Media Composer, and a redesigned player that boosts efficiency.
Client Feedback Simplified
A key feature in Frame.io 2.0 is the introduction of client Review Pages. These pages enable clients to provide detailed feedback on projects without needing to log into the full Frame.io interface, making collaboration more straightforward and eliminating email threads. The process is streamlined so that comments flow directly from Frame.io back into editing tools like Adobe Premiere or After Effects.
Review Pages are highly configurable, allowing for settings such as workflow controls (approvals), security measures (password protection with expiration dates), and personalized messages to clients. This ensures clear communication and efficient feedback exchange, perfect for projects where external stakeholders need to be involved.
A More Efficient Workflow
The new version of Frame.io 2.0 also enhances the workflow experience for editors and post-production professionals. Users can now import comments and annotations directly into Final Cut Pro X or Avid Media Composer, eliminating the need to switch between platforms. Additionally, users can copy and paste comments from one version to another, ensuring no feedback is lost.
Frame.io 2.0 also supports a variety of export formats, including PDFs with thumbnails, timecodes, and completion statuses for team reviews, or CSV and XML files for further processing. The new SMPTE-compliant source timecode display ensures compatibility with both non-drop and drop frame timecodes.
Enhanced Player Experience
The Frame.io 2.0 player has undergone a significant overhaul to enhance navigation, efficiency, and accountability. New comment heads allow users to quickly identify who left feedback and where it is located on the timeline. The looping feature lets artists immerse themselves in short clips for detailed visual analysis.
Users can preview the next comment or select specific ranges within a clip to dive deeper into feedback. The asset slider makes it easy to navigate between assets, ensuring users stay organized and focused during their workflow.
