At the upcoming International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, broadcast technology experts will delve into the future of television through a series of presentations and discussions. The event, organized by the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BTS), aims to provide attendees with insights into core technologies shaping the industry.

The tutorial session is scheduled for September 13 from 8 to 10 a.m., taking place in the Emerald Room at the RAI convention center. Attendees will explore topics such as physical layer advancements, delivery and transport methods, and video and audio coding. The goal is to offer a balanced view of these technologies' implications on business operations.

The session features several industry leaders who will share their knowledge:

  • Luke Fay, Sony: Senior staff software systems engineer, will discuss software and system engineering aspects of future technologies.
  • Kent Walker, Qualcomm: Vice president of technology, will explore the role of advanced delivery methods in broadcast television.
  • Youngkwon Lim, Samsung: Research engineer at Samsung, will present on video coding and its applications.
  • Yan Ye, InterDigital Communications: Senior manager, will cover emerging standards and their impact on the industry.
  • Deep Sen, Qualcomm: Director, will discuss the integration of new technologies into broadcast operations.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session led by Richard Chernock, chief science officer at Triveni Digital and chair of the IEEE BTS Distinguished Lecturer program.
