Global Production Unveils State-of-the-Art OB Truck
Imagine Communications and Italian systems integrator Chromaline S.r.l. have collaborated on the development of a state-of-the-art truck for Global Production, a leading outside broadcast company in Italy.
The new truck is designed to support up to 30 true 4K Ultra HD cameras, making it one of the most comprehensive production vehicles on the market.
Chromaline's Innovative Design
According to Nicola Dall'Asta, CEO at Chromaline, the challenge in building this truck was to maximize space and weight while maintaining high-quality production capabilities. To achieve this, the team relied heavily on software solutions from Imagine Communications.
The truck features a hybrid production vehicle architecture that combines SDI and IP connectivity, with Imagine Communications' Platinum IP3 router at its core. This allows for mixed-format video and audio routing, multiviewer functionality, mux/demux, frame sync, and advanced I/O options such as MADI and fibre.
Imagine Communications' Selenio Network Processor
The system design in the truck also utilizes four Imagine Communications' Selenio Network Processors (SNPs), which function as both SDI-to-IP gateways and all-IP-capable signal processing platforms. These compact devices are critical to achieving space and weight savings while maintaining high-quality production capabilities.
Magellan Software Control System
The truck's connectivity, including SDI and IP, is managed by the Magellan software control system, allowing the production team to switch and interwork seamlessly between HD, Ultra HD, and uncompressed real-time SMPTE ST 2110 streams.
The truck was handed over to Global Production on September 6, 2018, in time for coverage of the Men's Volleyball World Championships. Imagine Communications will be exhibiting its solutions at IBC2018 in the Amtrium, Stand #4.A01.
