VR Live Streaming of Jazztronik Concert

A recent Jazztronik concert at Billboard Live Tokyo was streamed live in 4K virtual reality (VR) to fans worldwide. The event utilized two Micro Studio Camera 4Ks, equipped with Entaniya 250° lenses, and Video Assist for monitoring and recording purposes.

The concert, organized by Kadinche, a developer of VR and AR solutions technologies, software development, and web design, marked the first time Jazztronik had held a live streaming event. According to Takayuki Morinaka, CEO of Styrism, the parent company of Jazztronik, the decision was made to leverage cutting-edge VR live streaming technology for their artists, recognizing the rapid growth of these technologies.

Micro Studio Camera 4K's Performance

Dai Akiyama, chief strategy officer at Kadinche, praised the Micro Studio Camera 4K's performance, stating that its small size was particularly useful in the limited space available at the concert venue. He noted that the camera's sensor provided great picture quality in 4K and that the combination of the camera and Video Assist met all project requirements.

4K VR Live Streaming Challenges

Akiyama also highlighted the challenges faced when reducing the frame rate to 4K 20fps for stable live streaming. He emphasized that Micro Studio Camera 4K is an affordable option with great 4K image quality and that, combined with Video Assist, it allows users to see video captured by a fisheye lens, which is not possible with common VR devices.

Future Plans

Kadinche plans to continue using Blackmagic Design products for projects involving VR and stereoscopic video streaming. According to Akiyama, he believes that VR live streaming is best suited for concerts and events, allowing a large audience to experience the performance without requiring physical attendance.
