Wildlife Photography Adventure
Cinematographer Abraham Joffe has completed a groundbreaking documentary series for the National Geographic Channel, featuring breathtaking wildlife footage from around the world. The six-episode series, Tales by Light, follows photographers as they capture stunning images in extreme environments.
To achieve his creative vision, Joffe relied exclusively on Miller Camera Support Equipment's Compass tripods, including the Compass 12 Solo, Compass 15 Solo, and Compass 25 Sprinter II. The lightweight tripods were essential for capturing a variety of shots in diverse locations, from the Himalayas to Antarctica.
Practical Solution
Joffe emphasized the importance of practicality when selecting camera support equipment for his project. 'The lightweight Miller compass tripods got the job done and were the most practical for travel,' he said. 'They could easily and quickly transition from setup to breakdown.' The reliable movement of the Compass fluid heads ensured that Joffe's shots remained solid, even in challenging environments.
Wildlife Footage
The Miller tripods proved particularly useful when filming wildlife footage. For example, a Canon 600mm lens with an extender was used to capture snow leopards in the Indian Himalaya, and the Compass 25 tripod provided a rock-solid base for keeping the camera steady.
Joffe praised the versatility of the Miller tripods, noting that their low spreading nature allowed for intimate perspectives when filming wildlife at ground level. The tripods' impressive range capacities also enabled him to capture stunning shots in locations around the world.
