At IBC 2015, Starfish Technologies will showcase its next-generation media insertion system, the TS Splicer.

Key Features

  • A complete media insertion system that combines multiple-channel transport stream splicing with media storage and SCTE 35 opt-out signal decoding
  • Simultaneously splices more than 20 HD or SD video services on a single server, supporting MPEG-2 and H.264 encoded media
  • Frame-accurate approach to splicing preserves the quality of video input signals
  • Audible support for AC-3 and MPEG-1 Layer II streams

The company's marketing director, Peter Blatchford, highlighted the importance of resolving common issues with traditional splicing technologies. 'As broadcasters move away from traditional distribution toward OTT and IP delivery,' he noted, 'the inertia away from SDI toward IP-based infrastructures is gaining pace.'

Benefits

  • Resolves issues with channel counts, propagation delays, and GOP boundary limitations
  • Supports high-quality video input signals through frame-accurate splicing
  • Accommodates AC-3 and MPEG-1 Layer II audio streams

The TS Splicer will join Starfish Technologies' family of regional insertion system products on display at IBC 2015.
