Adrenaline-Fueled Action Reaches Global Audiences

The Extreme Sailing Series, a global sporting phenomenon, has brought the thrill of high-speed racing to fans worldwide thanks to Telestream's Wirecast live video streaming software.

The award-winning series, now in its ninth season, features top teams competing on 40-foot catamarans just meters from the shore. To bring this heart-stopping action to a global audience, event organizers use Wirecast to stream live HD content from each race over their dedicated YouTube channel.

Two feeds are brought into a central control room where the TV production takes place: one for SAP 3D Graphics and another for the live TV production of the race. A dedicated streaming operator uses capture cards to bring these feeds into a computer running Wirecast, then streams the event with graphics to a Wowza cloud server and YouTube.

Wirecast's ability to monitor output and adjust bit-rate as needed ensures a high-quality viewer experience even in countries where securing sufficient bandwidth is challenging. As IT Support Specialist Liam Lavers of OC Sport explained,
